Kiren Rijiju: News

Kiren Rijiju is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh. Rijiju comes from India’s eastern-most state’s West Kameng district. He did his BA from Hansraj College in 1995 and LLB from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in 1998. Rijiju was a BJP MP in the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009, representing the Arunachal West constituency. After suffering a controversial defeat against Indian National Congress’s (INC) Takam Sanjoy in the 2009 General Elections, Rijiju made a brief switch to the Congress. He later returned to the BJP and was re-elected from the Arunachal West in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and found a place in the Narendra Modi cabinet. He served as Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs from 2014 to 2019. In 2019 General Elections, Rijiju was elected the Lok Sabha MP for the third time and served as MoS for Youth Affairs & Sports and MoS for Minority Affairs from 2019 to 2021. In July 2021, Rijiju became the Minister for Law and Justice.
